Kelly Lively is the Department Manager for Radioisotope Power Systems; She is also the Project Manager for NASA’s Mars 2020 Mission.
Kelly, an Engineer with Idaho National Laboratory (INL), works to enable deep-space, scientific exploration. Her primary work is managing a team of Engineers and Technicians to fuel, test and deliver Radioisotope Power Systems. These systems convert the heat generated by the decay of plutonium oxide fuel into electrical energy. Kelly will share information on the technology and the INL processes performed to enable these scientific missions. Kelly will also provide the latest information on three space missions: New Horizons (A Pluto-Kuiper Belt Mission), The Mars Science Laboratory (Curiosity—A Mars Land Rover), and The Mars 2020 Land Rover (yet to be named).
Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Idaho State University in 1998. She has worked for INL for 34 years; starting in 1985.
